A Storm Has Passed Poem by DONALD SCHUSTER

A Storm Has Passed

A storm has passed Leaving
a gentle quiet a blanket of snow beside its path
it covers all of what I do not know
and wished,
Yet as I slowly walk
to the measure of the forest
I feel the memories
of all that I have missed

It is not to comfort alone
that I long to hear the sirens
of praise,
But those done
in silence

For those are the true rewards
of merit
which can be taken
to heaven long
after my shadow has passed me by.
