Why should you shrink inward, when you have so much to flaunt... Admiring eyes are also rivetted on you... Nika.. why do you think that those eyes are scanning you in a negative way... Why can't they be admiring eyes as well? I appreciate your simplicity and child like innocence... but it is high time to come out of your negativity!

Hello, Nika A Small Girl is a moving poem. My heart went out to her as she raced by to escape the negative judgments she assumes will be cast at her. But then she goes even faster to reach some safe place. It was her instinct to accelerate that was especially poignant, because she will exhaust herself and still need to go faster, faster. Your poem created a tension in me (and I'm sure in its other readers) : I wanted to step into her path, either to shield her or show her asylum. And that's what makes this a necessary poem: your words activate the reader's sense of responsibility for another person's pain. It makes the reader feel compassion, one of our noblest emotions.
