A Singer Of Rama Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

A Singer Of Rama

A singer of Rama
He was
So distraught and dishevelled,
So devsted in his life,
Singing the song of Rama
So soulfully, so hearfully
Weeping and singing
The song,
The song of Rama
And before I could go,
Vanished he out of sight
The spectre, the shadow.

They also sing,
Sing the song,
The song of Rama
Who but slowly,
Slowly and feebly
Saying in whispers,
Slowly but silently,
The poor fellows
Weeping and wiping,
Weeping and wiping out the tears.

A strange singer,
A strange singer of Rama,
Of Rama he was,
He was,
Singing so soulfully, so heartfully,
The song,
The song of Rama,
So soulfully, so hearfully
Weeping,
Weeping and wiping
So that the wide world could see,
See him,
The strange singer,
Singer of Rama.
