I'd like to write a simple song
A simple song for you
And drop a chord in a line or two
Throw in a phrase of 'I love you'
And have a lovely melody
Playing just for you
From me

Yes, I hope that I turn you on
When I write you in my song, today
On my guitar, I played a tune
A tune I played for you
A simple song, in a word or two
That remind me of every little thing, you do
