A Silent Night Poem by Gary James Smith

A Silent Night

T'was a silent night in Bethlehem
When the shepherds watched their flocks
All of a sudden an interruption came
That silenced their small talk.
For heavenly hosts with hosannas sang
Announcing the Saviour's birth
Then chorus rang in the shepherd's hearts
They were the happiest men on earth.
They went to see if it was so
as to what the angel said
And sure enough in Bethlehem
They saw where the babe was laid.
When they had seen it they made known
The saying that they heard
Returning they glorified and praised their God
For they had seen the Lord.
