A Sheltering Tree... Poem by Prabhakar Srivastava

A Sheltering Tree...

I fear of being called a flatterer
Yet quite boldly I dare to say
In thy soothing motherly shelter
I feel the dawn's hopeful ray

For many thou are a good teacher
For many the best colleague too
For a stupid like me who only bothers
Thou are but like God's kind clue

Thou hear when me, I often wonder
As an ocean but respecting a river
Or a runner deliberately giving way
To a toddler to win and to be gay

Thou often ask whether I can forget thee
Oh! How can a sapling to its sheltering tree?
