I was intrigued by the title and as I read through the poem I admired John so much for his great courage and will to live a life he loved but alas cancer has no mercy. John had such dignity throughout his illness and with wisdom and foresight he wrote a letter having come to terms with the outcome. He praised his family and friends and he realised how lucky he was to have so much love bestowed on him. A poignant and beautiful write Valsa delivering a powerful message ' to keep peace with one's soul'

Hazel.... So glad you could really enter into the spirit of the poem.....! Yes John, I must say, is so worthy of admiration and emulation! It requires super human strength and grace to accept the oddities of life and make his passing away a celebration and not a transgression!

A poignant write from your pen, Valsa. One passing through this trauma is too tough, especially the patient. He is taken for many tests. Fighting for life till the last end is surely an example he has set for us. Battling with hope and despair is too tough even for the close relatives and friends. You have portrayed it very beautifully. Loved reading it.

Poignant narration of a reality. Sooner or later death will come one way or other. When it comes it must be faced with courage and faith. Absolutely at peace, with no emails to check, no bills to pay. What a relieved way of accepting it. Nice poem. Thank you.

A tale told indeed, but it can be called a poem too. Death unveils its faces differently on different occasions. But it has only one triumph which is its debacle too. It silences the sufferers of life at large and brutally cripples the lives of the defendants. The antithesis of hopelessness has its assertion here The hero dies leaving a tale to be told many a time.. It can be inspiring many as you say Valsa madam...

Here only eyes speak, eyes of doctors, eyes of nears and dears, eyes of the sufferer, deep and soulful eyes swing between faith and fear, no words needed yet they come, the ease of life and the peace of life gone, wake up it is time to fight and trust and life has to leave at last.......Valsa.....recently I have seen the suffering of a cancer patient......and your piece made me so sad and I can only mourn with awe remembering that heaven has come so near and may God bless the soul to rest in peace and serenity......nicely composed

A sad description of a man who bravely fought cancer and fell like gallant solder. We should fight for the right cause, as afar as end is concerned it is in the hands of God.

Excellent tribute to the memory of cancer patients who fought and died at last. The moment of knowing its contamination, writing illustrated so well the next time with such a refined style of expression....long but reader spell-bound to reach its catastrophe. Great.
