A Sad Lover's Lament Poem by Kevin Hulme

A Sad Lover's Lament

Give Love to another but not to me;
Two opposing minds would not agree.
Don't cast your eyes with favour meant;
Those wilful Stars of Loves intent.
No silken words to please the ear;
All sentiments full of meanings dear.
And stay the hand for a kindred soul,
For a fire once had is now Winter cold.
Give all your Heart to one who'll prize;
That precious gift where Heaven lies.
For Love affairs that graced the past;
Began in bloom but turned to Ash.
So leave your arts and alluring wiles;
The lingering grace of enchanting smiles.
I was not meant for Cupid's dance;
The flirting look for the long Romance.
So save all your sighs and heady scent,
For my amorous days are surely spent.
