A Romantic Waltz Poem by Gianfranco Aurilio

A Romantic Waltz

I remember that sea

and what will become of you,
my soul,
when the tepid breeze
from those days
stops blowing?
What will become of me
when the heat of the sun
that you loved so much vanishes,
if you lose the scent
of the golden sand
that when you still were a child
covered your feet
during those sprints towards the sea?
Yes, that sea,
I remember it
and I'd like to keep it with me forever,
my soul,
like a romantic waltz
on the wings of time.
