I find the substance in the last line, '...and grant me a reason to return '
wonderful poem A mix of moments of freedom and then a moment of uncertainty. Or perhaps there is less uncertainty and more of a woman who laid the foundations to go after what she wants.
This is the AFTER section of a BEFORE/AFTER poem with the BEFORE section subsumed in the body of the poem. The poem is necessarily intense but never shrill or obvious. That's important because you are addressing the issue of contemporary sexuality in which new freedoms lead to new complications. It's really contained in the word PROMISES: What promises, if any, come from physical intimacy? What do we do about feelings which are not dispelled by an intimate encounter but increased by it? How do we exercise our new freedoms humanely? So many questions raised by this sensitive, hones, even harrowing poem. It's remarkable!
wonderful write, a lone earring lost in tangled sheets! ! love the imagery! I love this theme..please see Right of Return and see what you think.
wow! ... what a wonderful emotional exaltation... a plea for the return of things that were forgotten and left behind...
Saturated with sensuality that ripples into a river of repeat.
A beautiful description of an unforgettable and emotion charged experience! Retrieving your forgotten possessions will be a genuine excuse to go back to your lover's closet once again! Thanks for your lovely comments on my poem 'The Faceless City'
So romantic feelings expressed in simple way. You don't need a reason to return when your heart is overflowing with love and care, just near silently. In love silence is louder than words, Does the tip is of any help to you? LOL. Rosia
