A Psalm Of Despair Poem by David Wood

A Psalm Of Despair

Rating: 5.0

The world has become a cold place
With war and violence and lies
The powerful with boastful tongue
Have vanquished the meek and mild
Who are slowly disappearing without trace.

iI's not only the powerful and rich
Now everyone lies to his neighbour,
They flatter with their lips yet harbour
Deception in their hearts and faithfulness
Faithfulness was the first they ditch.

How will this all end; politician's only offer
Lies that slide off oily lips who double-talk
With forked tongues leading people
Off the nearest cliff or pushed under
A bus then jeer mock or scoffer.

Churches are now empty, the cathedral's
Crumbling yet all the political cathedrals
Offer is half-truths and blatant lies and
Even outright denials of true facts. Those
Who hunger for truth and more upheavals.

A very timely and meaningful write. So very true. The claws of war and violence have turned this world into darkness.
