Although slavery is a part of the past and it is good to let go of the past, I feel this is one of those experiences that those who lived through it must have a very hard time of letting go of something that was so horrible and senseless. Although you are correct that there can be no peace found in holding on to bitter memories either. This is one of those difficult life lessons.
