The words are powerful and would bring tears to the reader because the poet fully comprehend Jesus and His teachings about unconditional love and how our consciences get touch by the fact that not everyone shows compassion to others who are poor, abandoned/victimized, imprisoned unjustly, a stranger seeking refuge/help. People either become too complacent, accepting of things that are unjust and busy minding their own business and/or problems to think about another person's need.
