Kevin, You have quite a good sense of humor. Hahaahahahahahahaha! Loved how you put that! ! ! ! And yes, you men miss an awesome tie not bearing a child but somebody has to stay fit and keep the wolves away!

Geeta! ! You know what? Men don't know what they're missing... I know that sounds like the beginning of a joke or a man-slam but Mothers are tied to that child they bore for 8 months and than bear after a horrendous battle and then wait for that indignant cry and pray for it. We get bound forever with our children. I am glad you enjoyed this peek into my life and understood what it means

Suddenly, Susan has become an expert neonatologist. Or is it that the know-all mother in her has woken up suddenly? Pity us, the poor ignorant fathers. Very beautiful picturesque poem. Enjoyed reading. The paradox of the crying baby and happy mother, although of common knowledge and experience, makes it wonderful.

I was a ten pound butterball, from what I understand there was no slap, just a push and pull. I think you have helped capture the experience of new mother hood for those of us that are motherly challenged.

oh! ! ! the baby cries and cries and waves her little red arms and legs around and cries and cries and cries and the mother is filled with absolute joy...........Brilliant analysis of how life starts with a cry of the baby, while the mother rejoices having delivered a baby. Varied emotions that makes for a complex life on earth.....As always..... a lovely poem that deserves top stars.

Wow, depicted so vivid about the beginning of a new born! Baby's cry is a music to mother's ears, and yes, a slap is quite often vital ;) Perhaps we could call it the God's slap so s/he will know what's right or wrong when growing up.5+

Sandra! ! ! ! Sandra! ! ! you got that right. Men are brave and strong but I think if they gave birth to babies there would be an extremely sharp decline in the population! ! I too agree with the sanctity of life- my girls started as an itty bitty little cell uniting with another itty bitty cell and voila they were who they would be when I could see them and hold them in my arms 9 months later

Mj! ! ! ! ! Are you a college professor in disguise? ? ? ? Your comments are always so learned, intelligent, and inspiring- -and I think better they are much better than my poems! They make me remember my college years... lately I wish I could return to those years and take advantage of the opportunities I failed to see back then... Thank you, my friend, for faving this poem and giving it an encouraging 10! ! !

Brilliant, Susan. This does remind me of All The World's A Stage. Even with our first entrance, there is such drama...drama that foreshadows hope, promise, greatness, challenges, aspirations....Isn't life great? ! This goes to myfavourites. A perfect 10.

Mj, your comments are always so educated and intelligent... takes me back to college days, a time I wish more and more that I could return to, life was richer, more vivid, more packed with open doors back then. Thank you, my good and valued friend, for the ten! And especially for favoriting it! ! !

In this poem you have, Miraculously created all that is felt by most women when giving birth. That no man can fully understand. And why most women consider, hold and defend the right and sanctity of Life, I have read few poems as dramatically moving and intensely felt and far reaching in human sentiment as this rare gem.
