A diaphanous mist hangs over
Blurring thoughts and fancy
Or is it that my Muses
Have gone into lazy slumber?

Hi again, Valsa! Not sure I had already read it, I read this poem again—and enjoyed it again! May inspiration never fail you! Glen
Even with writer’s block and sentiment of poet in making your poem steals my heart. I had seen this title and meant to read it but I guess never got around it. And if I left the comment (I haven’t checked of course!) and don’t remember the poem, , , , , highly unlikely! Thanks Valsa. Your poetry always brings so much pleasure.
Yes, I am a poet in the making... - The journey continues, the creative process, like life itself, is continuous growth. For the poet writing poetry is an essential and integral part of her intertwined spiritual and physical evolution. A beautiful poem.
That's how poetry comes and that's why poetry is so beautiful. You have nailed it. A huge 10.
Valsa, your poem may have been long in the making, but it came out sparkling like gold! I love your many metaphors and your skillful use of words. Poetry brews in us all the time - sometimes the fermentation process is slow, but then what finally comes out is good quality (says me, a teetotaler...) . When I'm scraping the barrel for inspiration, I research a topic, or get some famous quotes, and it helps me to get going. Well done for this excellent poem!
Laurie, I am so thankful to you for your beautiful comment! You are right.... sometimes a word or a quote or a phrase become the inspiration for a poem. Sometimes even when the brain sizzles with ideas, nothing will come out!
hey, valsa! well, you know i can relate to this poem. i think anyone who's been writing poems—or anything—for a while has had experience like this. this poem is rich in imagery. i particularly like On trying to nest them together, They wheel away like pigeons! i tend to like nouns, like nest, used as verbs—they are so efficient! and the entire image strikes me as original. as to the struggle you articulate here, i've gotten to where (most of the time at least) i just wait for inspiration to strike. then it and its energy can drive the words. yes, i've had long waits, but i've got enough going on in my life to keep me otherwise occupied—as i'm sure you do. somewhat related, if you haven't already read it, is my poem semi-retired in early spring. i tend to think spring and fall as the prime times for poetry. perhaps you do too? perhaps that's why this poem of yours comes at this time? blessings! glen
You are right Glen. I know it is a difficulty faced by most of us. Sometimes we get stuck halfway. But fortunately after some waiting, we are able to continue. Thanks a lot for your analytical evaluation of my poem!
Like an emboldened farmer, I sow the seeds of my thoughts Into a land barren, Not fecund enough And not watered with imagination! ...................great lines, lovely poem.
My lovely poet... This poem is so nice.. I AM FELLING WELL FOR READING THIS POEM....really this poem is touched my heart....
Thank you so much Rahul for visiting my page and also for the lovely comment!
You don't have to wait for that moment. You are already there long since as this poem loudly declares. Enjoyed the abundant imagery.
I am floored by this beautiful comment from a veteran poet like you! Thanks a lot Rajendran ji!
Well of course, I can connect with this poem! The struggle to write well is often circuitous and thought arrive at the strangest of time, often when the poet does not have access to their tools of translation: a pen, a computer, a phone. Your images are beautiful. I loved the line about something taking root even in the cleft of a rock. That image made me think of the random lines that often run through a poet's mind...not always a complete poem, but a compelling image, meaningful words, a creative turn of phrase. The process is organic, untimely, challenging, and riveting! Thanks for sharing your beautiful poem and I'm glad to see you were able to get the translation of thought into poem. Take care Valsa.
I think many of us have the same experience. I know you are a new comer here! But you write like a seasoned writer! Glad you liked my poem! I am so happy and thankful to you Jette for stopping by to read my poem and comment on it so beautifully!
Your poetry is outstanding......and the seed of your muse has long sprouted and has become a mighty tree dear poet. I adore poems about the struggle of emerging your soul knowing onto paper to release and restrain in the written word to fly free again with full wings for the reader.10++
I don't know how to thank you Simone for reading and commenting on so many of my poems! I am so thrilled to find out that you have a genuine interest in my poems. I will forever appreciate your loving support of me and my work[3[3
Wow! You have expressed beautifully every poet's frustration when creativity hides away from our thoughts as we struggle in desperation for inspiration and the words, the glorious words to flow from our pen! You write with such creativity always, that to know you too at times have the same struggles, when no light shines in a darkened sky of words, that hide away, but your star Valsa will always shine so bright! Superb write!
Sometimes our muse plays 'hide and seek'. Even when heart is full, words won't come! It is a frustrating experience! Still we won't give up and we take the pen and paper in our hands in the hope that something of beauty and life be born of us! Enjoyed your greatly appreciative comment and thanks a lot Hazel!
A poet can sow seeds of thoughts in a barren land and can bring into success without water of imagination. It is seen that seeds in the cleft of a rock strike roots and struggle bravely into sunshine and and bring beauties for their sterile birth place. Sometimes the fragments of thoughts inspire the poet to sting or the birds of thoughts to be settled in one nest together but they wheel away like pigeons. It has been nicely inscribed in this poem that I like most. Let it be quoted..... Whatever thoughts I have They come fragmented and scrambled In no way I can piece them into a string. On trying to nest them together, They wheel away like pigeons! Brilliant poem beautifully crafted and shared.
Your brilliant evaluation of the poem is so delightful! Yes, seeds of thought can strike root any time. Though it doesn't happen always, it can happen! We poets take the pen and paper with this hope. Thank you so much!
Such a profound write as always you put your thoughts into action finding grains of truth in the tons of sand Great write as always I enjoyed
Poet's thoughts remain as thoughts till some unknown force makes them appear on paper as captured in the following lines. In the dead of night, in frightening stillness I am awake, with pen in my hand And a heavy weight pulling me down Caught in a creative maelstrom I whirl and whirl Hope the ink will soon spill over Scrawling coherent lines and letters
You are quite right! Unless one gets that right inspiration from an unknown source, words won't parade on the paper making meaningful units! Thanks Tirupathi sir for reading and commenting!
A nice poem. You have nicely described the thoughts of a new poet about giving shapes to his ideas into poems. A good read one. Thanks for sharing.
This is a mental state affecting not only the beginners, but every poet! Thanks for your visit and kind comment!
Wonderful poem.. Your ink has spilled in our hearts and mind. You are a great poet.
All of us had gone through this and will again. Problem is; not all can nail it like you! ! looks like some of us are a long way in the making. Thanks Valsa.
