A Poet And His Lover Poem by Chukwuebuka Adebayo

A Poet And His Lover

I write this to show the way that I love you,
In hopes to capture all that you mean to me
Each word I pen, a portrait of us two—
I vow to love you till I see the dryness of sea.

I will stay till the sun falls from above
And the stars shines their lights no more
The way that I love you, is more a treasure trove
It is true and will forever endure.

Your smiles are healing to my liver
Your laughter, a beacon in the storm
Where you're present, I feels much better
In your love, I am wholly reborn

With every line, my love for you shows
Like a flower blooming in the spring
In your embrace, my heart overflows
With all the joy and happiness you brings.

Forget the fights, no one is right or wrong
Forgive as children and like them be simple
You are all my art, my poem, my song
And with you, I see we'll be a great couple

So let these words be a testament
To the love that binds us, heart to heart
In your warm arms, I find contentment
And in it, I'll never depart.

I am writing this poem for you, dear
As an humble poet and his only lover
To let you know how much I care
Each line is true, God be my prover.
