A Place To Live Poem by Chukwuebuka Adebayo

A Place To Live

I've said, I will find a place to live,
Just a small heaven far from hellfire
A simple piece built just for me
To lay my head down in calmness
Gently Like the depth of oceans
The sparrow has found a place,
An house in the deepest thickest
And a small nest for herself
There —her young stays save.
The fox has dug a hole,
In a place the hunter don't know
The road I takes, diverts to danger
But Straight I ever wish to go
I do work and not to be lazy
Just to have a rest at night
Still the night is too helpless and silent
And it's when good people dies
I've been to the sky to safe me
Getting to the gate was locked
The faces I saw were strangers
I've been to the Buddha's dome
But they planned to beat me up
I see that there's no place to live
There is nothing in this room
Only waiting for something to fall in line
For we are caught here in between
