A Pirate Poem by Galina Italyanskaya

A Pirate

Wake up, wake up! Your house is burning!
Posh and cozy, it is on fire!
But you're deafened to hear my warning.
You prefer to believe a lier.

All the things, you have saved for ages,
All your treasures, and all your money,
And your life is in deadly danger.
Wake up, wake up! Your house is burning!

Wake up, wake up! Your ship is sinking
In the waves of the raging ocean.
How can I change your way of thinking?
You are sure there's no need for caution.

You're blind with your gold and diamonds,
And the crew is carelessly drinking,
Sailed away from the looted islands.
Wake up, wake up! Your ship is sinking!

Wake up, wake up! Your soul is dying!
It is seeking for help and praying.
Can't you see, can't you hear it crying
At the horror of your betrayal?

You're merrily dancing, singing,
You feel free as the winds of Heaven.
The illusive world of a sinner
Seems to him as secure as ever.

Bright and dread, thunderstorm is flashing.
Don't ignore it! Your end is poignant!
Wake up now, for your world is crashing
Down upon you, right down upon you!
