I was surprised that Robert Frost had written this... at first. Then I realized I was more accustomed to his poetry that was from an older man's point of view, usually set in a rural setting- -this was from his childhood and from the point of view of a man looking back at his childhood and finding moments of innocence that might have brought a whimsical smile to his face.

Such was life in the Golden Gate: Gold dusted all we drank and ate, - There is always a kind of loss for whatever gains we get... We don't mind the air pollution when we badly need the material things in life. A very impressive poem by the well-known R.Frost.
