A Nexus And A Conspiracy Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

A Nexus And A Conspiracy

It is not how we die that matters
it is how we live that matters;

it is not what we do that matters
it is what we don't do that matters;

it is not whom we hate that matters
it is who hates us that matters;

it is not whom we agitate that matters
it is who agitates us that matters;

it is not whom we trust that matters
it is who trusts us that matters;

it is not the rivalry that matters
it is the enemy that matters;

it is not the forbearance that matters
it is the reprisal that matters;

it is not the defeat that matters
it is the battle that matters;

it is not the illegality that matters
it is the legitimacy that matters;

it is not the nexus that matters
it is the conspiracy that matters;

it is not the law that matters
it is the injustice that matters;

it is not the victim that matters
it is the criminal that matters;

it is the not the forgiveness that matters
it is the punishment that matters;

it is not the grit that matters
it is the target that matters;

it is not the principles that matters
it is to even the score that matters.
