Very well said Samayan, we all need art as a means of expression. Great poem
a point made...and to be noted by one and all..only art makes life wholesome
agreeing with Carl in totality....and yes I have found that it is really more practical and useful for me to get on my typewriter or keyboard and save the gas going to my therapist
Life is art in itself, the lord painted the world that slowly fades with greedy ways, we need to add back the colour with love
Art is long and time is fleeting. Everything in this world is an art. Nicely composed.
The last stanza elevates the poem by revealing the purpose. Yes, Art can be for money but if it doesn't come from the heart, it is only a wart. If our Vedic lore is still alive, if the Shakesperian literature is still in the circuit, if the Sistine vault scenes still entrall millions, it is only because that these arts have come from the depth of the heart of their creators. A good work. It carries a message. That is important.
Remining me of when I wrote 'Poet' years ago which just won as a finalist in international competition and an Editor's Choice Award hope you get a chance to peruse......

A good theme you take up here, SLN...'art' has its own place and value in this technology oriented world...artful imaginations spur up enthusiasm ending up in discoveries and inventions... The drawings of Michael Angelo and Leonardo da Vinci of the Renaissance Period later contributed to many a mechanical engineering assemblies...in 'Ramayan' written in post Vedic Period there was this hint about a conveyance through sky...that has been well before Wright brothers could invent a model centuries later... I don't remember who invented E-mail but the first man to imagine in this line, was Kali Dhasa the great poet of Ancient India...in his classic write Megha Sandhesa- Ethereal Message- his hero would send his love messages to his consort in separation through clouds only... Art and Science are inseparable parts of Philosophy...no wonder you receive M Phil when you master any subject, art or technology...thanks for your good thought provoking piece...your poem inspired me to talk too long too much...10
