A Nation Called India Comments

i'm not clear on what this means. aren't the vast majority of people on Earth more or less 'indifferent'? i am, in that i can't control things and/or don't know all of the facts. so, i'm not exactly indifferent; i just don't get involved. i don't believe letter-writing or poem-writing stirs enough of the right people to change things which i might choose to change IF i was sure of what should be changed and i was sure of how to cause the change AND i had the power to make the change. and yes, sleep gives comfort. i'm talking of large complicated situations. i have called city hall and spoken to my small city's go-to people to cause some minor changes/repairs to be made. i 'started the ball rolling' and others saw that something was done. the poem is a worthy effort in the right direction, but will most likely not bring about any concrete results; i don't suppose the author expected it to bring about any! but, MAYBE it will encourage some to speak out if they see or hear something disturbing. I can tell you this that the impressions that one gets of America are likely too general and misguided. I do not lock my doors at night and racism is never seen or heard except by those who wish to use it as a political tool. Yes here too they have mouthfuls to speak and a wild cacophony of confusion! To read or hear the news you would think that some great evil existed and we were all walking around hating one another. I can only imagine what the true story of India is. Do you know that when I was 18 years old I read Gandhi's biography? Here was a man capable of holding as many thoughts and opinions side by side as was necessary in order to see the big picture clearly. The opposite of course of those who blindly believe all that they hear without being able to filter out the nonsense.

I am an Indian to the hilt My comfort lies in sleep.True .Indians are turning a blind eye to the various atrocities. We are too lazy to rise to the occasions. Well envisioned. Thank you for sharing

India should awake from these useless cacophony and do some serious soul searching so that Nirbhaya type horrible instances do not become a routine affair, as is now tending to be. We all share your deep concerns. Beautiful write.
