A Mother's Prayer In The Midst Of War Poem by Titon Rahmawan

A Mother's Prayer In The Midst Of War

Oh Allah, Oh my Lord

Today they bombarded our homes with anger and hatred.

Today they destroyed the wheat fields that depend on our lives with fierce revenge.

An eye for an eye
tooth for tooth.

Do we have to accept this terrible disaster with Your permission?

Is it with Your blessing that they bring disaster upon our heads?

If we have done something wrong, then give us the sincerity to accept it as punishment.

If our sins are the cause, then grant us Your guidance and forgiveness so that we can avoid harm.

Let us today pick up the bodies of our children who are lying among the rubble of buildings and broken debris.

Let us bury the bodies of our dead brothers and sisters, so that they will be worthy to appear before You.

But for the glory of Your name, let our tears dry, because You are the only place for us to surrender.

If only there was still a sense of humanity on earth where we live.

May we be worthy to faithfully hope for Your mercy. So give us peace to live together as brothers.

Because that is what You promised before to Ibrahim, Ismail and Ishaq.

As hope and gratitude always live in the hearts of humans who live and obediently prostrate themselves before the glory of Your name, so

protect us, all the children and grandchildren of Adam's descendants.
