A Mother's Prayers Poem by Tiff Murphy

A Mother's Prayers

Wherever you are I hope your happy my little angel,
Oh how I wish I could hold you in my arms,
I'd give anything to just sing you one lullaby,
Who’s keeping you safe in their arms,
Do you wander about me?
Are you waiting for me my precious little one,
I pray that you don't know the kind of pain that would cause tears to run down that sweetest face that I will never see,
If there is a god I'm hoping he holds you tight in his arms and lets you know how much I loved you so,
I think about you every day,
Nothing and no one could ever replace you or even come close,
We'll be together someday,
This I'm sure,
But how will you know me,
Will you recognize my face?
One that you've never seen,
Days come and go,
The holidays are the saddest for me because you’re not here,
I think about the presents I could be getting for you,
So many things we could learn from each other,
How I long to see your smile or to hear your little giggle,
There are so many things I wish I could tell you,
You are loved and missed by many on this earth,
I don’t know how it is up there in heaven if that's where you are,
But I pray that you’re safe and warm,
I hope my family’s there watching over you and wiping away any tears that may be falling,
I hope their giving you many of kisses and hugs to show you how much I loved you,
I pray the other children are kind to you and plays with you to pass the time,
When you fall down or hurt yourself I hope someone’s there to kiss your booboos and make the pain fade,
I need to know that you’re at peace,
I picture you laying in a field with butterflies and flowers all around just waiting for me,
Safe from this world and unafraid,
Sleep tight my little angel,
You'll always be my brightest star in the sky,
I pray one day I'll hear the words 'I love you mommy' escape from your tiny lips,
Because I love you my darling and these are only your mother’s prayers.
