At times I find myself at odds,
And wonder if there is a God

As mortals, we are born to err, so we have been told...but what is rarely discussed, as unfortunately our world continues to become more & more secularised....is the normalcy, even in the most devout, to sometimes cast doubt, upon oneself's faith, during times of grief, or rue. One of my favourite Saints, Thomas, is an ethereal paradigm of this claim, as although he was one of Jesus's most loyal disciples....he became movingly frightened by the Crucifixion, and literally hid from Jesus, after HIS Resurrection. And to convince his close friend that He was indeed the same God, (then Man) who had died on the wood of a Cross, just a few day's earlier, Jesus had Thomas touch the nail wounds in HIS hands, and the spear wound in HIS side to restore Thomas's faith. And tho' he became a Saint...still, on earth, like you & me....Thomas was mortal, and was capable of erring & straying from what he loved most....I like this piece a lot, Mamta...You intrepidly, and eloquently share, what many would deny in a heartbeat...and your genuinity & talent to expresss yourself, is well exposed in your artistry.I look forward to visiting your poems, on a regular basis, and sharing reads & comments on each others work. ~ FjR ~ ..2008..

The poem brings out nicely the doubts of the existence of God, a God that should protect but takes away. Death is a reality that is very hard to face, and to find divine benevolence in human suffering is hard for everyone. But the very act of doubting is important for self-growth and tolerance. All the best, Mamta.

Life is a gift...it does not come with a guarantee. It is up to us to live it wisely and have no regrets. Your poem is a meaningful reminder.
