A Modern Fakir's Reflection Poem by Sumita Jetley

A Modern Fakir's Reflection

In Mumbai's heart, where stories weave,
A Sufi traveler finds reprieve.
Gazing at the sea, so wide, so deep,
In silence, his soul's whispers creep.

A journey not of miles, but of inner space,
Where every step is guided by grace.
From Haji Ali's sacred door,
To Oberoi's vibrant shore.

In the hum of life, in the quiet sea,
He finds the truth that sets him free.
Kindness, a challenge on this path so wide,
Yet with Presence, he abides.

Reflection on Our Shared Journey:

This traveler, in his silent quest,
Mirrors our own journeys, unexpressed.
In his reflection, do we see,
A mirror to our own humanity?

We strive, we seek, we fall, we rise,
Under the same vast, endless skies.
Are we so different, him and I,
Seeking kindness from on high?

Yet, in his moment of serene grace,
A reminder of our collective embrace.
In kindness, in love, in the simplest deed,
We find the presence we so deeply need.

Are we on the same page as the Sufi, one might ask,
In our day-to-day, behind every mask?
Perhaps in moments of clarity, we find,
A shared longing for peace of mind.

In every breath, in every sight,
Let's embrace the beauty of being alive,
For in the orbit of Presence so divine,
We find our paths, uniquely intertwined.
