A memorable Hug
(i)
A pool of breezes
feeding stretching,
curling
worms of arms
slithering
like bleeding coals
in an everlasting hearth
stretching
to the borders
of a dropped meteorite.
Brewed by a comet
trailed by a million
asteroids
above a floating nebula
of you and me.
What soft spring
from a nook of bowing
tree branches
filled and frothed
the deepening hollow
between us
with the spume and foam
of a folded-up shore
full of sun and stars tying us
with stretchy breath
from a cruising moth's zephyr.
(ii)
O singing breeze
injecting into ear
the hue
of a nightingale's voice
traversing sky-stroking
storm waves to land
on a chest deserted
like a desert without dunes
now drifting to a garden
of crawling red-sleeved arms
O rhododendron
burning me with dawn's glow
of a landing dusk,
condor wings sweeping
all of me with
stringed buds of a creeping
red flower igniting
a thousand flames on its path.
(iii)
Above those arms
wheeling through my spine
rose a tall tree,
a settled rainbow arched
over umbrella branches
of cherry blossoms
in a paced rolling wind
dropping showers,
butterfly-stroking petals
bouncing off on us
like children's balloons
rolled off in the air
with their paper kite to fly
the flag of a quiet zone
palisading us
into a warm world fed
with thrushes and sky larks,
O voices from a filtered voice
that sang
over ship-wrecked nerves
flung onto a typhoon-
drifted island
just for you and me,
a cushion of soft sand
our new davenport,
a sienna sky falling on us,
as if through our veranda.
spinning its candelabra of stars.
under a shower of moonlight.
