Maybe the fact that you try so hard is making you fail. Try letting it flow. What you write is what you write. Don't over analyze or over think it.

This poem is not really mediocre...you had a point to get across, and you did get it across...but why not share your heart or your belief or just somthing that you believe has merit? You had this idea to write a mediocre poem and you wrote it...now get an idea about something, anything and express it and you will be surprised how it will come together...
