A Lost Boy Poem by alex sarich

A Lost Boy

He was a child who
remained in the mind
where only body flourished
A child in a man,
muted, abandoned,
repressed-condemned,
scarred intensely.

His voice resonates
in the night of past
my chilblains ached
for warmth, and body
was weak with hunger.

Crying himself to sleep
he wrapped himself in
heavy khaki blankets
no one wanted his existence
no one cared about
the timid lamb
in the flock.
