A Long Day Poem by M McParland

A Long Day

It will be a long day ahead,
filled with sadness and anxiety
knowing I most likely screwed up again.
Try as I may and try as I might
I just can't seem to get anything right.
I didn't sleep the whole night
as I was filled with deep worry and fright.
Even now they have not subsided
and I fear that the worst is yet to appear.

I cannot relax to do anything,
I can't read, watch a movie,
or rest for more than a minute or two.
It will just be a long day of endless pacing,
hoping and praying that I didn't
once again ruin everything.
A long day of anxieties shaking
with worry filled thoughts through my brain racing.
A long day ahead God give me strength,
please don't let me have screwed everything up
and hurt the one I love more than anything.
