A slight 'doo-lally' grandmother and a painted tortoise the protagonists of a comedy caper. Now why didn't I think of that? : -) . Gyps, I'd enjoy this poem even more if it were in rhyming couplets. For me, in couplets it would read more flowingly. As it stands though...listen, have you considered writing children's fiction as well as poetry? Short stories? Great poem Gyp. I have just done a cockney afternoon at the daycentre that I work at, photos all in the local rag I made a pearly Queen Outfit sewed on nearly 3000 buttons. I wished you had written this poem a few weeks ago it would have saved me doing a three page composition with all cockney slang rhyme. Im half cockney born on the south side of the river 'Woolwic! . Dad was through and through born in Stepny Green Hospital, a very long time ago. I loved every word of this poem 10+ cheers sylvia
I thought I was sitting in a London pub again, with someone talking incessantly and hilariously across the table. By the way I have a cunning tortoise and I can well believe anything you say! Linda H.
