I have to respectfully disagree with the person who said that this poem is about nothing. I think the last verse is replete with wisdom. Those who help their fellow man have not lived life in vain.

Wisdom of old is posterity for tomorrow. Quite philosophical. Il like the poem. Bravo!

Yet nothing is ever lost if we pass such wisdom to one another; ......................Yes, here lies the great problem, communication of wisdom. University can't, institutions can't, politicians, reformers, religious fathers / mothers can't until one realize the truth by ones own realization. The poem is in favor of a healthy journey through the life. At least wishes are appreciating.

This confirms the fact that the more vague a statement, the more it is read as if it had personal relevance. This sounds nice, but is, in fact, about nothing.

No life lived in vain, that sheds. Light on the path for a brother. Great message of friendship and love. Poem likes.

Very rightly said. Through out our lives, we experiment and experience to gain knowledge which we ought to share with others for common good.

Indeed, Carolyn. That the lines being reminiscent of the Bible adds to the truth of the ideas you have expressed.

Life is too big a mystery To be unraveled by experience Just enjoy the loss or victory And be content with the ambiance...

Wisdom is lost when not shared Lost when it is, but is brushed away Life is lived in vain if the light is ours And points neither us nor our brother To the one true light and wisdom above all

a beautiful write up. we need to help one another; shedding lights across other's path, that where we have fallen, they may scale freely.
