A Lit Match Poem by Christopher Cariad

A Lit Match

It's hard to say goodbye
to someone you love.
Thinking if all those memories,
all burned away now.
Just because you moved away
and fell in love,
You burned the bridge that connected me to you.
Case me away like trash,
I guess I was a fool in the first place.
To befriend someone like you.
A person that made life brighter, happier.
The sweetest human I've ever met.
Just to be thrown away like I'm nothing.
There's an ocean between us now,
That no bridge could connect.
My life burning to the ground,
with that fire you set.
