The poem explores the limits of human perception, the conflict between scientific explanation and intuition, and the frustrating gap between moments of intense spirituality and humdrum everyday life.
A quality of loss Affecting our content, As trade had suddenly encroached Upon a sacrament......... outstanding concept. A beautiful poem having nice theme. Full stars.
Very outstanding so brilliantly expressed about nature by the greatest poetess of all time 10++++++
A fascinating landscape or a series of those lovely portrayals. It is the greed of man that takes away the sheen out the nature's bounties, Thanks.
It waits upon the lawn; It shows the furthest tree Upon the furthest we know; It almost speaks to me. a very good poem. tony
A light exists in spring....what a nice way to start the poem!
Well good Sarah thanks for letting me know, this is one I have never read. And I disagree with your conclusion. But that's my opinion. Which you always beat out of me! I thought it was marvellous not forced in any way.
Who puts puts their real name on this? I don't. I like his poems but I don't trust ANY websites. Not even Netflix
His poems are really beautiful and I can't get over them. He is such a good poet.
" Trade has suddenly encroached Upon a sacrament" . Awesome conceptualization in the sweet melody.
trade certainly affects content, but is there an under-estimation of science?
A beautiful poem on nature. I always admire her style of writing and enjoy her poems. Like her other poems this is a gem too.
As trade had suddenly encroached Upon a sacrament Wonderful conceptualization with equally wonderful imagery.
Recalling Emily’s usual lining of poems, I had a bit of a challenge with the sentence carrying over from the last line of the first stanza into the second. That worked out, I relate to the transitory light or opening to the landscape which causes her to see it in a fresh way. And I resonate with her describing this experience as something sacred—for the Creator’s signature is seen in the creation. -GK
TOP Marks Full for this gorgeous poem, masterfully ended, only Emily can do like this. None other. To MyFavourites. CONGRATS to the family of the late great poetess being chosen as The Classic Poem Of The Day.
