A Lesson Learned Poem by MTHANDAZO SAMAL MKHWANANZI

A Lesson Learned

Who's loving you now? I wonder,
Considering how you treated me, like a fleeting thunder.
At first, I thought you were the one,
But soon discovered you were just having fun.

Loving you was hard, a promise I made,
But now I hate you, a feeling that won't fade.
You took my love for granted, and hurt me so deep,
Leaving my heart dissolved in pain, my soul to weep.

We're history now, a mystery to unravel,
You're alive, but to me, you're just a distant travel.
No fear, no regret, just a newfound love,
Someone who treats me right, sent from above.

She's my heartbeat, my forever mine,
Not a liar, not a cheat, just a love divine.
I'll love her till time stands still,
My heart beats for her, my love, my thrill.

You're just a memory, a worthless, faded past,
Done and dusted, a chapter that won't last.
I won't miss you, I'm loved by someone true,
Goodbye, farewell, may I never think of you.
