A Leaf And A Human Poem by J Sheba Anandhi

A Leaf And A Human

Ramified tree analogous to the planet,
The branches are the countries,
The sub-branches are the states,
And further branching, further division,
Down to a single leaf, a human,
The air paths through are the water bodies,
The wind blows, divinity intervenes,
The leaves clash or form relations,
The leaves wither during the conflicts
Or fall after they dry out and senesce,
The wind assists them in travelling
While they are alive and kicking,
Sometimes cyclones leave them stranding
In another territory, forever grieving,
The season, clime, and weather
Bring them concern as well as laughter,
When there's no wind
They stay idle, bored,
When there's rainfall
They tremble and yell,
When there's breeze
They party and dance,
All trees and all human
Bear fruit and bear children,
And live on and on
As long as the ambience offers sustentation.
