A Lack Of Character Poem by Doris Cornago

A Lack Of Character

Rating: 5.0

Born to riches you misunderstood
Life is your own journey
The unmasking
Of your
True
Self
Discovered
Those pennies do not
Cover the lack of character
Treating people with respect is not
Disrespecting yourself or your money

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
People tend to value money more than anything. Getting attention due to affluence is almost a given and when a rich person is ignored by someone looking like she does not have as much money, this action sweeps him off his feet and he falls flat on his face. His bruised ego demands an apology, but should we cater to the rich and demean ourselves? I'd do it every time given the opportunity just so some brats can earn a free lesson.
