A Knight Of Promise Poem by Mary Champion

A Knight Of Promise

Oh Lancelot, have you betrayed
the sacred promise that you made?
to seek the Truth and guard it well
till Time has made it ripe to tell.

But you indulged a childish dream
where flesh and mammon reign supreme,
and though you loved and freed the Truth,
you've lost the focus of your youth.

Through you the Grail has been revealed,
bBut still the Truth remains concealed.
Grail Maiden has no tongue to tell
the Wisdom she perceives so well.

Only those of knightly birth
can tell the Truth and save this Earth
that now lies wasted, cold and bleak
by hearts too blind and minds too weak.

Let all the Knights of legend heed
the call of anguish, see the need
for ignorance to be dispersed
and put the cause of Science first.

Come Lancelot and fellow Knights,
from lowly place or lofty heights,
it's time that you were gathering
to greet the once and future King.
