A Heaven To Die For Poem by Mary Champion

A Heaven To Die For

What we need is a heaven to die for,
a place where there's laughter and fun,
where we all find the things that we sigh for,
with pleasure for everyone.

A welcoming home for a Human,
not po-faced or puritan-prude,
a wholly relaxing solution
to all of the woe we've accrued.

Yes, give us a Heaven to die for,
then death won't be so hard to face.
If it wasn't so dull we would try more
to be worthy of getting a place.

A Heaven to die for must offer
a haven where we feel at home-
whatever our class or our nature
we don't feel we lower the tone.

Lord, grant us a Heaven to die for-
more carrot and rather less stick,
rewards that we might want to strive for;
I reckon you're missing a trick.

Stop threatening hell and high-water
to those who have got up your nose.
We would more likely do what we ougtha
with rather less cons and more pro's.

What we want is a Heaven to die for
then we might be much nicer behaved.
With a promising future to try for
you'd find us less vile and depraved.
Yes, give us a Heaven to die for,
Give virtue a fitting reward.
You cannot expect us to vie for -
A place where we're gonna be bored.

It's time to update your prospectus -
promise loving and laughter and song,
for surely you cannot expect us
to be perfect and pious that long.
