A Heart Revived Poem by Cebolenkosi P. Mkhize

A Heart Revived

My heart was shattered, broken and worn
From love that failed, and tears that were born
The pieces scattered, like autumn leaves cold
I thought I'd never love, never grow old

But then I met you, with eyes so bright
A warm smile that lit up the night
Your touch ignited a flame so true
Melting the frost, and healing me anew

With every breath, my heart beats strong
The shards of pain, slowly moving along
The memories of hurt, fading like the past
As our love blossoms, and forever will last

Your gentle hands, they soothe my soul
A balm to the wounds, making me whole
Your love, a refuge from the stormy sea
A safe haven, where I can be me

I thought I'd never love again
But you proved me wrong, and showed me the way
To heal, to mend, to love and to live
With you, my heart beats, and my soul gives

In your arms, I find solace and peace
A sense of belonging, my heart's release
From the heartbreak, I've finally moved on
With you, my love, my heart is now home.
