A Glitch Poem by Dashaun Rashod Snipes

A Glitch

Rating: 5.0

In the midst of ancient tales
Lies a glitch in our history's trails
A flaw in the fabric of time
An error in the stories divine
They say Zeus was the god of thunder
But there's another who was a blunder
The mighty Thor, with his hammer strong
Was left out of the mythological throng
Or perhaps it was Odin, the wise one
Whose power was unmatched by anyone
But where is the mention of Athena
Goddess of knowledge and wisdom?
And did you know of the Valkyries
Warrior women with wings and fierce energies
But in our tales, they are rarely told
Their existence deemed insignificant and old
As we delve deeper into the past
We find more glitches that make us aghast
Like how Medusa was once a maiden fair
Before Athena cursed her with snakes for hair
Or how the real story of Atlantis
Is lost in a sea of distorted transcripts
Did Poseidon really sink a whole city
Or was it just a tale to make people giddy?
From the Trojan War to the Holy Grail
There are errors in every heroic tale
Whether caused by faulty memory or intent
Our history's myths are not 100% meant
But alas, these glitches in our past
Remind us that perfection will never last
For even the greatest of gods and men
Are not immune to a glitch now and then
So let us embrace these errors with grace
For they add depth to our mythic space
And though they may be a deviation
They are still a part of our historical creation.
