A Girl For This Boy Poem by james watkin

A Girl For This Boy

Girl's sweetness to befriend.
Heart, shy; all my own!
On whose play-day, the rude
Does never intrude.

I'd wished; and had thought it
Enough of a bold step
When one's trill-voiced appeal
Rose. Too sweetly real!

I'd one to choose; as oft
Un-complimentary-faced
Bashful turned off. Now tears
Rue a life of fears.
