A Future So Bright Poem by Cindy H

A Future So Bright

Throw me a lifeline
I'm sinking fast
Can't live for the future
When I can't let go of the past

Things that once seemed
Important to me
Are only the troubles
I couldn't let be

I held on to things
I should have let go
Now only the bitterness
Is left to show

Time moves on
And people change
But holding to grudges
Seems my only range

Fool me once
We all get one
A second time fooled
And this now is done

No room for forgiveness
It's just not in me
For holding to grudges
Is all I can see

Its water now
Just let it flow
Time moves on
And people grow

You knew me once
But I am different now
You'll never know
If I can't show you how

Don't let me in (again)
Don't let it go
Hold on to the past
For it's all you know
Throw me a lifeline
I'm sinking deep
Only grudges past
Into my mind will seep

I am no fool
No lifeline was thrown
I can see the line
But can't see you've grown

So I have been fooled
By my thoughts of the past
But this I won't know
Until my breathe is last
