A Franciscana Dolphin That Died Because Of Selfies Poem by Daya Nandan

A Franciscana Dolphin That Died Because Of Selfies

Rating: 5.0

The common selfie craze has gotten out of hand,
Since everyone wants to make their life look grand,
Attention seeking in the form of many photos for likes,
From posing in toilets, travelling places and riding bikes,

Just recently two dolphins were yanked out of the ocean,
By beachgoers in Argentina which lead to a commotion,
They took the rare species of dolphin and passed it around,
To people wanting selfies with it, passing it up and down,

Eventually one died from the effects of dehydration,
After being passed around by these selfie addicts on vacation,
The dead carcass laid on the beach, while the other survived,
The crowed dispersed, soon the proper authorities arrived,

This terribly unfortunate event is an example of casual cruelty,
That people can inflict to enjoy their selfish cup of tea
When people ignore the animals needs for the sake of their fun,
Risking the life of innocent creatures for selfies under the sun,

The poor animal suffered a horrific and utterly unnecessary death,
For the sake of a few photographs it drew its last breath,
A helpless Franciscana dolphin used for selfies on the beach,
That met its end before its precious ocean home it could reach.

Thank you for writing a poem about these dolphins which expresses exactly how I feel Daya. Hoping one of those thoughtless selfie people may find it in their hearts to do something positive for our planet....10
