I once saw a poem
A poem in a radiant rainbow,
Later, as I was about to fall asleep,
I found one right under my pillow.
I got up with a start,
To pin it down on a piece of paper,
But before I could capture it,
It broke away like a wrestler!
I pursued it as it lurked in my garden
And it was a cool, mellifluous, full-moon night
I could see it struck on the branches of a tree
In the flowing luminiferous moonlight!
I resolved to climb the tree,
To retrieve it at any cost,
As I wished to cage it
Before it could vanish like a ghost.
I soon felt a gentle breeze
Brush past my shoulders in a puff,
When about to lay my hand on it
The breeze whisked it off in a huff.
I watched it slowly drift away
Into the fluffy clouds high
Where my pen could no longer reach
Alas, I retired with a sigh!
