HERE: Ah, had you held me...i think one would be a fairly sophisticated reader of English to understand that the sentence WILL be complete after the word reading. but i think it would be clearer (to me at least) if you had put but after you: Ah, had you but held me.... i wonder how an English teacher would explain that sentence's structure. bri :)
