A Fairy Tale Poem by Nellie Isabelle Steward Cooper

A Fairy Tale

Her own dying
was but a Fairy tail
that she had invented
from the other side

Of the mirror

She watched it happening
and put herself in role
of spectator who must
impress on memory

All-
so as to make
the morning paper

Choose the important
craft and hew the line
arrange the trivial
and important

So - they might mingle ever so nicely

Of course it was and would only be
but a fairy tale - by me

You see

What else could it possibly be?
