The coldness of Kashmir in summer and the warm lap of mother in winter are enjoyable. The heart of the father is like a sea. Brilliant expression.

Can you give me The coldness of Kashmir in Summer Or the mother's warmth in Winter And be a sea like heart of my father? ....outstanding conceptualization..A poem with lofty theme is amazingly shared.

While the bridegroom grows restless seeing the charming bride in the beautiful wedding attire an assurance is sought by the bride from him, at least by a seeking look, all protections in life. This truth has vividly been portrayed in the poem an the translation is marvellously done without losing the central spirit. Congratulations

Visually alluring and frank descriptions of ones on inner nature, the bodies material beauty fades like leaf's in the autumn, the promise to love not the flesh but the soul is the best covenant that great love is founded upon. Excellent poem, well deserved of Poem of the day!

'A Document of Promise' is a very well written poem (transcreation) . Loved the last five lines particularly: 'On that hour Can you give me The coldness of Kashmir in Summer Or the mother's warmth in Winter And be a sea like heart of my father? ' Heartiest congratulations, Bharati, on your work being selected as the MPOD!

It's a reader's delight and one is tempted to read it again and again. The poem seems to present a woman with a dual personality now seeking to reclaim her legitimate place in the society. The longing for the warmth and coziness of parents is what separates the real woman from others. Thanks for sharing and Congrats for its selection as POD.

interesting to read this, bharati, after just reading and responding to a comment on my poem " on rembrandt's bathsheba." the speaker in this poem you translated is aware of her own physical beauty but, as a sign of maturity or wisdom, knows it cannot remain as it is. there is much more to attraction than physical beauty, and in marriage much more that i/that one finds endearing. -glen

Congratulations! The transcreation of the poem is superb! You have chosen a beautiful poem with heartfelt sentiments, and transcreated it with your deft writing! We are not able to read the poem in its original language, but we can feel how touching that must be! The last two lines are mesmerizing!
