A Dirge Requiem In Broken Bones Poem by Terence George Craddock

A Dirge Requiem In Broken Bones

broken desires can be like broken teeth
shattered dreams like fractured broken ribs
failing withering hope like spinal injuries
sometimes there is no way out of pain
sometimes there is only blinding unendurable pain
sometimes pain endless thirty minutes of tsunami pain
sometimes pain thirty minutes trying to get a sock on
a single sock lying on the floor trying in horrible pain

yes allowing help someone to put the other sock on
but day after slow day it gets slightly faster slightly
time stretches time stretches until 5 minutes a sock
until a few years later a sock is only inconvenient easy
putting a sock on in near normal time was once impossible
it does not even need a pinch of happiness a pinch of hope
