A Different Famine. Poem by Nabakishore Dash

A Different Famine.

Rating: 5.0

Famine due to scarcity of
rain keeps us hungry.
But famine in goodness
and humanity makes us
selfish and angry.

People struggle for food
to remain alive.
Different famine creates
many bottlenecks to survive.

Ordinary famine is a
transitory phase that
troubles for a short period.
Altruistic famine
keeps us locked permanently
at odds.

Trying to reconcile
may necessitate paying
a heavy price.
One should remember that
a snake sheds off skin
to accomodate a bigger size.

This diffrent famine is
creating rusts in our
present society.
Our combined duty and
strife should be to
lessen this malady in entirety.
